7:00-7:30 Beginners Session: Fall & Winter Preparations, Feeding, Preliminary Preparation of Hive for Wintering (Robert Clark)

Long-time beekeeper Robert Clark presents topics based on an annual, local beekeeping management calendar, with emphasis on basic principles of how honeybees respond to beekeepers’ actions. Click here for the beginners’ hive calendar.

7:30-8:00 Tea and Announcements
8:00-9:00 Panel Discussion: Taking Stock of the Season, or, Beekeepers’ Mistakes

It’s hot August, but the days are getting shorter and the beekeeping season is beginning to wind down. What have you learned? How are you preparing for next season? Richard Taylor once wrote, “beekeepers are like comets. They burn brightly for awhile, then disappear from view. To be a long-time beekeeper you need more than the enthusiasm with which you plunged into the craft.”

Bring your questions, stories, and most importantly your rueful experiences from this season to our panel as you take stock, prepare for winter and think about the season to come.

Meetings are 7:00-9:00 pm on the first Tuesday of each month at Meadowbrook Interpretive Center (directions to Meadowbrook) and are open to the public.
